Connected, Creative, Expanded: Android XR’s Next Wave of Innovation Enhances the Galaxy XR Experience
on December 9, 2025
In October, Samsung Electronics debuted Galaxy XR — the first device powered by the Android XR platform, co-developed with Google and Qualcomm — marking a new horizon for immersive, AI-native form factors in the Android ecosystem. With multimodal AI enabling intuitive interactions through voice, vision and gesture, plus full immersion capabilities, Galaxy XR has generated excitement for its expanding range of apps and for the new ways users can work and enjoy entertainment.
The latest Android XR update introduces three new features — PC Connect, Likeness and Travel Mode — designed to broaden the ecosystem and enhance everyday use. These capabilities open the next chapter, making Galaxy XR more powerful, personal and practical. As Galaxy XR continues to evolve, Samsung and Google remain committed to democratizing access, fostering creativity and building a future in which technology adapts to users’ needs.
PC Connect: Bridging Devices and Expanding Possibilities
Galaxy XR complements and augments existing devices. With the new PC Connect beta app, you can seamlessly pull in a single application or your entire computer’s desktop into your Galaxy XR’s immersive view, unlocking new levels of productivity, creativity and entertainment. Games such as “Cities: Skylines II” can be played on a large immersive virtual screen for a bird’s-eye perspective. PC Connect also provides access to the full desktop, allowing users to check email, browse the web or join a video call. The feature is quick and intuitive — open the PC Connect app, select the computer and the connection is ready. With expanded compatibility across a wider range of Windows PCs, Galaxy XR supports more flexible workflows and collaborative possibilities.
Likeness: Bringing Expressive Avatars to Video Calls

Video calls are already immersive on Galaxy XR, but the Likeness beta app allows users to appear as themselves. In video conferencing apps such as Google Meet, users can choose how they appear — from stylized Galaxy Avatars to more lifelike and expressive digital representations. This helps convey a more natural presence in virtual meetings when Galaxy XR is in use.
Travel Mode: Creating Immersive Spaces On the Go
In Travel Mode, users can create a personal cinema or immersive workspace even during transit. They can watch a film on a large virtual screen or review presentation slides during a flight with a view that remains stable. The Travel Case also keeps the device secure and portable for on-the-go use.
The future of Galaxy XR starts now. These features will roll out to users starting December 8 in the United States and Korea.
