Unveiled 10M pixel camera phone

Samsung reached another milestone in camera phones by launching the 10 megapixel camera phone. This has stood out as one of the most successful digital convergence products from Samsung Electronics.

Launched Bordeaux LCD TV

 

The Bordeaux LCD TV stood out not only for the quality of its picture and high fidelity sound but also for its design. All control buttons were moved to the sides, giving its front surface a sleek, clean look. The 32” screenmeasured only 8cm thick and the 40” screen at 8.9cm thick. The TV offered vivid, sharp images with a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000:1 and the image remained undistorted from virtually every angle.

Opened 300mm wafer fabrication facility in Austin, Texas

Samsung opened its first overseas 300mm wafer fabrication facility in Austin, USA and started producing advanced memory semiconductor products.

Released the smallest, lightest color laser printer (CLP-300)

Developed world’s first 50nm class 1Gb DDR2 DRAM

Samsung developed the industry’s first 50nm class 1GB DDR2 DRAM and solidified its position as a technology leader in the global DRAM market. DRAM is more complex in structure than NAND Flash the development of 50nm DRAM was thought to be impossible. However, Samsung Electronics it was able to achieve this and it created a huge gap between Samsung and its competitors.

Ranked No.1 in LCD TV, flat screen TV and overall TV sales

 Samsung Electronics attained the No.1 worldwide market share position for overall TV, flat screen TV, and LCD TV sales worldwide.
