Especially, among many of Samsung premium home appliances, interest on the recent Chef Collection 4-Door Refrigerator is rising. Why? Let’s have a closer look.

The name, ‘Chef Collection’

When we think of a chef, we think of a person who leads others in the kitchen without having a moment to rest. The chef is responsible for managing everything in the kitchen, from preparing ingredients, receiving orders, assigning tasks to each team members, cleaning the kitchen, and also inventing new menus. Here, the name is dedicated to the home chefs, who are in charge of their kitchen at home.

According to Kyungsoon Kim, Senior Manager of the Marketing Group 2 at Samsung Electronics, the name ‘Chef Collection’ implies to the expertise and passion of world renowned chefs. In fact, Michelin-star rated chefs participated in planning as well as design stage of the Chef Collection to implement the usability and professional knowledge into the products.

Customized Temperature by Ingredients

If you want to create the most delicious meal with health benefits, you certainly need the freshest ingredients. The Chef Collection refrigerator is optimized to provide the most optimal environment to keep ingredients as fresh as possible.

For example, the Chef Mode is a mode that maintains the freshness of the ingredients at its best by minimizing temperature fluctuation within plus minus 0.5 degrees Celsius whereas conventional refrigerators can fluctuate in a wider range. The temperature can also be customized for each shelf depending on what ingredients are stored. Kyungsun Kim, the senior manager of the Marketing Group 2, informed us that the main challenge was to minimize this temperature fluctuation for optimized freshness for each ingredient. This is one of the unique features that differentiate the Chef Collection 4-Door Refrigerator from other refrigerators.

Finding the ideal temperature of ingredients was the next challenge according to the project participants at Samsung. They had to experiment with numerous ingredients to find out the most optimal temperature for maximum freshness. For example, using meat and fish, the team observed and measured on a daily basis how the ingredients reacted on different temperature settings. Testing 30 to 40 ingredients at a time, this resulted in massive data creation – up to 50 pages per ingredient.

The Largest Capacity among all Samsung Refrigerators

With a 1,000-liter capacity, the Chef Collection 4-Door Refrigerator marks the largest among Samsung refrigerators sold domestically and internationally.

The engineers of the Chef Collection refrigerator had to utilize highly advanced technology to make this happen, which was no easy task for the engineers at Samsung. Sangyu Jung, the principle engineer of Refrigerator Development Lab 1, said that developing the Chef Collection was pretty much like building a house. All parts, from the smallest components to the overall structure, needed to be precise and balanced. The engineers worked tirelessly to make sure that every bit of space counted! “It’s like creating a masterpiece.”
