Samsung and Trustonic Launch Trustonic for KNOX, Delivering a Whole New Level of Trust Enhanced Experiences on Samsung Mobile Devices
Samsung Electronics, the leading provider of mobile device security, announced Trustonic for KNOX, a new mobile security solution developed through its partnership with Trustonic, the leader in Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for mobile devices. Trustonic for KNOX increases the trust that service providers can place in the operations and assets stored on a device, enabling the delivery of high value services in simpler and more compelling ways. Trustonic for KNOX will be embedded in Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones, and will be made available across a selection of existing Samsung Galaxy mobile devices via software updates.
“We understand the importance of evolving Samsung KNOX to meet the ever-changing needs of enterprise and professional mobile security,” said Rick Segal, Vice President of Enterprise Business Team, IT & Mobile Communication division at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to provide solutions to our customers and partners that allow them to feel confident and comfortable in using their mobile devices in the workplace. Embedding the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with Trustonic for KNOX will enable ecosystem players to build new services and applications that will take mobile security to a new level.”
Trustonic for KNOX combines the advanced and robust integrated security features of Samsung KNOX with Trustonic TEEs’ hardware-based security to provide a trusted platform for service providers to deliver an enriched, simplified and consistent user experience. Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will integrate the Trustonic Trusted User Interface, which simplifies user authentication by enabling simpler passwords, protects against attempts at click-jacking, and increases end user confidence that transaction approvals are genuine.
“The growing trend of using increasingly important services on mobile devices makes it essential to combine increased trust in the device with a seamless, simple user experience,” said Ben Cade, CEO of Trustonic. “Trustonic for KNOX will see the Trusted User Interface deployed in massive volume, truly raising the bar on the experiences consumers expect. This is a truly significant development in mobile security. Trustonic for KNOX is the result of a deep partnership with Samsung focused on enhancing the level of trust that consumers and enterprises can experience in mobile devices.”
Through this partnership, government, enterprise and vertical industry clients gain a complete, powerful platform incorporating strong user authentication, single sign-on, secure tokenisation, and enhanced trust for mobile device management.
“The ability to offer adapted mobile security levels without compromising user convenience will boost the deployment of high value services on mobile,” said Teck-Lee Tan, executive vice president of platforms & services at Gemalto, one of Trustonic’s partners. “With our Trusted Services Hub now connected to Trustonic’s broad base of TEE available across Samsung devices, we are scaling up the addressable base of end users to offer the maximum market reach to enterprises, banks and other digital service providers seeking secure and easy deployment.”
