Following the success of Samsung’s LTE and Mobile WiMAX deployments in the US, Asia and the Middle East, Samsung continues to strengthen its market presence in Europe. As part of this strategy, earlier in 2011 Samsung founded a specialist organization, the ENO (Europe Network Operations), as the center of its 4G business in Europe.

Samsung’s distinguished LTE solution is backed by over 30 years of experience and leadership in developing and commercializing world first telecom technologies. Based on its wide range of field-experience in OFDMA technology, Samsung has already successfully partnered with dozens of mobile service providers to help them implement the most advanced 4G solutions including Sprint and MetroPCS in US, KDDI in Japan, SK Telecom, KT in South Korea, Mobily in Saudi Arabia and H3G in UK.

Samsung Electronics announced the successful completion of a Smart LTE Networks field trial operating on 2.6GHz spectrum. During extensive field testing in Prague, Czech Republic, Samsungs Smart LTE Networks proved its considerable benefits compared with conventional LTE solutions.

The LTE trial were conducted in Prague and follow the successful completion of a jointly conducted LTE field trial in South Korea, during which Deutsche Telekom were impressed with Samsung’s innovative, future proof technology and its commitment to the European infrastructure market.

The Prague trial yielded results showcasing a significant increase of throughput capacity at the macro cell edge of up to 120% and an overall average network throughput increase of up to 30% dramatically improving the customer experience whilst simultaneously reducing operator CAPEX. The introduction of small cells in HetNet architectures is benefiting even further from Samsung Smart LTE concept, which was also proved during Prague field trial.

By applying its own advanced radio resource allocation technology, Samsung’s Smart LTE Networks enables mobile service providers to reduce interference among network sectors and cells, enabling effective cell site expansion with little or no loss of performance. This innovative LTE solution substantially reduces operators’ total expenditure by decreasing the number of cells required in a given network configuration. Samsung Smart LTE Networks made its commercial debut in Korea at the beginning of 2012 and earlier this year, won “Most Innovative Commercial LTE Launch” Award at LTE World Summit 2012.
