Over 100 tech visionaries and experts from Samsung and partner companies to take the stage to speak about key themes including Smart Health, Smart Home, Wearables and Virtual Reality
Samsung Electronics unveiled new keynote speakers to the agenda of the Samsung Developer Conference. Following the conference theme “Connected Living. Connecting Developers,” the event is designed to showcase consumer-oriented products, services and technologies that offer new opportunities for developers.
The second annual Samsung Developer Conference will feature future-oriented topics and in-depth technical and business sessions across a wide range of topics. Samsung will unveil the tools and innovations for developers and partners in the areas of smart health, smart home, wearables, virtual reality and more. Spotlight keynotes will include:
- Won-Pyo Hong, President and Head of Samsung Media Solutions Center, will share his vision of the “Connected Lifestyle” and the opportunity for developers.
- Young Sohn, President and Chief Strategy Officer, Samsung Electronics, will address the current landscape for digital health technologies, overcoming roadblocks to implementation and opportunities for developers
- Eric Anderson, Vice President, Content and Product Solutions/GM Smart Home, Samsung Electronics America, will talk about smart home trends and how smart homes will look in the near future for consumers.
- Nicholas DiCarlo, Vice President, Immersive Products & Virtual Reality, Samsung Telecommunications America, will share Samsung’s vision for delivering a compelling, and mainstream Virtual Reality experience powered by the Smartphone
- Pranav Mistry, Vice President, Head of Think Tank Team, Samsung Research America, will update developers on new tools to build compelling applications.
- Alex Hawkinson, Founder & CEO, SmartThings, Inc., which was recently acquired by Samsung, will discuss SmartThings’ continued vision for openness and opportunities for innovation in the smart home and consumer Internet of Things.

SDC 2014 will also feature several technical workshops, including:

- “An Introduction to Enterprise HTML5 App Development”
Samsung recently held a Gear App Challenge aimed at developers who want to develop and demonstrate new apps for the latest Gear devices. Samsung invited developers to take Gear App technology to the next level by creating innovative, functional, and original apps for the Samsung Gear S and Gear 2. At stake is a total of $1,250,000 in prize money. The top 10 developers will be announced on October 24 with the Grand Prize, Second Prize and Popular Choice winners to be unveiled during the conference.
