It had to be done. Although we dealt with plenty of interesting features, it just wasn’t enough. Considering the scope of responsibility I feel as an editor at Samsung Tomorrow, I feel obligated to go over other cool features and tell you all about them. So without further ado, here is more features of the Galaxy Note Edge.

We are going to go over two features today: Dynamic Lock Screen and Edge Screen Widget. Let’s check out the Dynamic Lock Screen first. (Dynamic Lock Screen is also available on Galaxy Note 4)

As you may already know, the ‘Lock Screen’ is the first thing you see when you turn on your mobile device. It is like the first impression of your device, and since you have a WQHD resolution display, you want to make a good one.

Dynamic Lock Screen is the feature that will improve the first impression of your device for you and anyone who might see it. There are two ways you can use the Dynamic Lock screen:  ‘My Interest’ and ‘Live weather’.

My Interest-Dynamic Lock Screen-Galaxy Note Edge

‘My Interest’ basically provides high-res premium photos taken by professional photographers for the lock screen and it changes the photo at intervals set by you. Here is how you do it.

Press long on the Home screen.

Click ‘Wallpapers’ button on the left of ‘Widgets’ button.

You’ll be able to select the wallpaper setting for the Lock Screen and then can tab to ‘My Interest.’ Here you will see a total of 7 Categories: Drawings, Travel, Nature, Landscape, Night Sky, Pets and Food.

Choose your preferred category and Tab ‘Set as wallpaper’.

Now you will see a number of 2560 x 2560 high-res, professionally-taken images for your Lock Screen. And you will also notice that the photos move and zoom-inand -out on the Lock Screen; that is the ‘Dynamic Effect’.

If you don’t want the dynamic effect, all you have to do is go to the settings and uncheck the box for ‘Dynamic Effect’. It is pretty straight-forward and gives you some nice options for your lock screen.

Remember that earlier I mentioned you can set the interval time for the photos – for this, all you have to do is go to the ‘Transition interval’ from the Settings and select the interval you want. When everything is done, just press ‘Set wallpaper’ button to return to the Home Screen. Now, if you turn off the display and turn it back on, you will see images appearing according to the categories and timing you’ve selected.

Now, let’s move on to the ‘Live weather’ Dynamic Lock Screen. If the weather is the first thing you want to check out when you wake up the morning or whenever, this feature will give you photos of the city based on your location, as well as time and weather conditions without having to access a separate weather app.

Live Weather-Dynamic Lock Screen-Galaxy Note Edge

Live weather consists of 2560 x 2560 high-res images taken by photographers from all over the world to display the most optimized images on users’ lock screen. The fun part about this feature is that it provides animated weather effects for weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog, and thunder. It is pretty fun, so let’s try it out.  It starts off the same as the ‘My Interest’ wallpaper that we showed you above.

Long press on the Home screen.

Click ‘Wallpapers’ button on the left of ‘Widgets’ button.

You’ll be able to select the wallpaper setting for the Lock Screen and then can tab to  ‘Live weather’.

Live weather settings page will appear.

Tab ‘Weather’ Button

‘Unit’ and ‘Auto refresh’ options will appear. *Users can set Unit (Fahrenheit or Celsius) and set the refresh cycle according to how often they want updated weather.

The fact that it provides great looking photos and tells you about the weather outside simultaneously is pretty deep and metaphoric… not really, but it is definitely cool.

By the way, these are an exclusive feature just for Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4. So if you are a user, feel free to brag. If you happen to like the image on the Lock Screen and want to see the original image, you can click on the Content Provider’s logo on the bottom then it will lead you to its mobile website. It is free to use and does not require a Samsung Account. Also it is free on Wi-Fi, so it is much better to use it on ‘Wi-Fi’ only mode.

That was it for the Dynamic Lock Screen feature, so let’s move on to the Edge Screen Widget. I’ve briefly touched on this subject in my previous article, but since this is a pretty crucial part of the Galaxy Note Edge experience, let me delve into it a bit more.

For the sake of trying this out, let’s check this feature out with Samsung finance to see if it gives the stock ticker like we see on the news.

Tap Setting Icon in Panel screen (Bottom Area) to get to “Edge Screen Menu”

Tap “Manage Panels” and Select “Samsung Finance”

Click ‘Pencil’ icon in bottom area

Click on the ‘+’ icon

Go to Quote select screen and Select 4~5 quotes

That is how you utilize the Edge Screen widget. The key here is to click the ‘pencil’ and ‘+’icons. Depending on the widget, it will give you different options, but the logic is pretty much the same. I know you get it, especially once you try it out yourself!

So that is it for today’s segment. If you are already a user, I hope this can help you use your fresh Galaxy Note 4 or Note Edge better. If you aren’t a user, I hope the articles get you on the “edge” of getting one, wink wink. The point is, they are both awesome devices that are fun and useful to play around with. What do you think about the new Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note Edge?
