Samsung Recognized as a Nationwide Leader in Giving Back to Communities Across the U.S.
Samsung today announced that the company has received several awards for its achievements driving innovation forward in technology and in society.
These awards range from its recycling programs to the design of its products to its initiatives giving back to communities across the country. The first of the awards will be presented at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries’ (ISRI) annual convention in Las Vegas this week.
“Being a good corporate citizen is part of our culture and Samsung’s DNA,” said Gregory Lee, the president and CEO of Samsung Electronics America. “We are constantly working to ensure that our business is also an active and invested member of the community. We are humbled and honored to be recognized by the EPA, the Reputation Institute and ISRI for our efforts, which reinforces our continued commitment.”
Reputation Institute’s 2016 U.S. RepTrak® 100 list recognized Samsung as the third most reputable company in the U.S. and the number one company in the country for its commitment to social responsibility, according to a survey of the American general public. In addition to being honored as one of the most reputable companies in the country, Samsung was also presented with two awards by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program: Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, for the fourth consecutive year, and Partner of the Year – Climate Communications Award, for the third year in a row. These awards celebrate the company’s achievements in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency and consumer engagement. Samsung will receive these awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016.
Lastly, the company was awarded with ISRI’s 2016 Design for Recycling® Award for Samsung’s approach to creating innovative products with the environment in mind. ISRI’s most prestigious accolade celebrates the achievements of companies that place recycling at the forefront of each stage of the product life cycle. Samsung was recognized for the innovative use of environmentally-conscious materials in its 2016 Curved Full HD TV (UN55K6250) and its easy-to-disassemble, snap-together parts which eliminate the use of many screws and make it easier for recyclers to recover.
Samsung has always sought to foster a culture of innovation and social responsibility throughout its many offices across the United States and in the places where its consumers, employees and partners call home. Since 2001, the company has contributed more than $46 million to help more than 1,000 schools, hospitals, and foundations throughout the U.S.
