[U.S.] Galaxy Battles Is Back With First-Ever Squad Busters Competition

This week, Samsung Electronics is hosting the Grand Finals of Galaxy Battles: Squad Heroes — an electrifying tournament that will put some of the most talented mobile gamers to the test. Players from the Squad Busters community will use the Galaxy Z Fold6 to compete for $40,000 in cash and other prizes including the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Buds3 Pro. [U.K.] Folded Red Bus Stops Traffic in East London

Recently, commuters in East London encountered a full-size bus that appeared to have been folded at a 90-degree angle. The red single-decker bus is part of a public art project commissioned by Samsung Electronics to celebrate the release of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Flip6. Old Street was temporarily renamed Fold Street for the project, and the other works on display include a folded bench, lamppost and telephone booth.

A team of high school students won Singapore’s edition of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2023 competition with their innovative assistive device for visually impaired individuals. Their creation integrates camera-based object recognition systems with LiDAR technology, which uses laser pulses to detect the presence, shape, and distance of objects. The device converts visual data into tactile feedback through an array of pins that gently press into the user’s fingers. This allows users to safely navigate their environment by mapping out their surroundings and identifying obstacles.

[Peru] Girl Power in Action: Fledgling Engineers Help Families Generate Affordable Electricity

The Chonta Tec project, winner of the popular vote in Peru’s edition of the Solve for Tomorrow 2023 competition, epitomizes girl power in action. Thanks to three female highschool students, more low-income families in the district of Chontabamba, Oxapampa, will have access to electricity service. By designing a sensor in floor tiles that can convert mechanical energy into electricity every time people walk on it, the three students succeeded in applying science to a real-world problem in their community.
